This winter, add a some edge and some shine to your wardrobe with metallic pieces. BCBGMaxAzria has some of the most beautiful and luxurious metallic fashion pieces and accessories (above). Often when people think metallic, they think strictly silver, but this season I encourage you to mix metals and try a gold or bronze metallic, like this Michael Kors gown Brooke Shields wore to this years MET Costume Institute Gala (below).
If you wear metallic right, you’ll end up with a show stopping look, however, its easy to go wrong with this. Often tight metallic pieces can be unflattering if they don’t fit properly. I opt for looser looks, unless its a structured piece that shows off curves. The material also makes a huge difference and can determine whether your look will be trashy or classy. Not sure what to do? Start with smaller metallic accents and then try more and more pieces and work the metallic look into your wardrobe. With any trend, I always encourage people to stay true to themselves and work it in slowly so as to not go overboard and turn into a fashion mess, not a fashion success! Take a cue from these stylish stars and their metallic get ups:

So if you care to take a fashion dare, try on a sleek and sexy metallic mini. If not, don’t fret! You can still be fabulously fashionable with more subtle accessories, like a metallic belt, pair of pumps, or handbag!
NOTE: Remember that metals do mix. I hate when I hear people say they can’t wear a certain piece because they’re already wearing a different colour metal. Break the rules and mix and match, like Victoria Beckham did with the dress pictured from her collection (right)
