Roland Mouret is a French fashion designer, known as a favourite among celebrities and elite clientele and as a designer or iconic dresses. Victoria Beckham is one of these clients, and she helped to make the designers Moon dress famous and popular. Victoria and Roland, both fashion designers, collaborated on a limited edition collection of little black dresses in March 2008. These days when you open up a magazine, it is likely you’ll see this
incredible designer’s name next to one of today’s most fashionable ladies on the red carpet. Here are some stylish examples of celebrities showing off just how amazing the work of Mouret is (left to right by appearance): Kim Kardashian, Demi Lovato, Scarlett Johansson, Minka Kelly, Selma Blair, Amy Adams, Naomi Watts, Cameron Diaz, Rachel Weis, Dita Von Teese, and Eva Mendes.
Mouret studied his craft for three months at a Parisian fashion college in 1979, but left school to begin designing. Though he lacked the full formal training and his garment construction skills
needed work, he had an awareness that allowed him to create irresistible clothing. Sharai and Andre Meyers bought his line in 1998, and Mouret moved to New York. After the Spring 2006 runway show and the introduction of his famous Galaxy dress, Roland split with his backers. This move was a shock to the fashion world, and it was two years before Mouret would make his quiet return. When he did return, some of his projects included: a partnership with Bergdorf Goodman for a one-time-only consignment where he designed 36 dresses, a limited edition dress line for Gap, and the launch of RM by Roland Mouret. In September 2010 Roland bought back the rights to his own name and opened a stand alone store on Carlos Place in London, which includes retail space for Mouret’s womenswear, atelier, menswear, design workshops and the sales showroom.
