I’m heading into my final set of exams, and after writing exams for the last twelve years, I’m more than thrilled to be done. Its around this time each year that my appearance starts to fall apart as the pressures of studies catches up with me. I’d find myself in sweatpants instead of stilettos and with food on my
face instead of blush. For some reason, students seem to be unable to keep it together in all aspects of their lives when heading into ‘hell weeks’. After years, I’ve somewhat mastered this, learning that style and comfort can go hand in hand.
My favourite study buddies include: leggings, ballet flats, cardigans, tees/tanks and scarves. I think its always important to layer, you never know how warm or cold you’ll feel sitting in the library studying away. I also think if you avoid big baggy clothes, like sweats, you’ll end up feeling more put together and this will decrease your stress level. I know I always feel better when I look better, and that doesn’t mean I spend a lot of time getting ready. Instead I put some thought into the comfort factor, while remembering that just because you’re studying doesn’t mean you can’t see and feel. Your appearance affects your overall well-being, and when you’re writing exams its important to take care of yourself.
Looking back on my undergrad days, I did not do a very good job keeping my appearance up to par during study time, I was usually spotted in baggy sweats
with Uggs on. While most of my peers were in the same boat, I know none of us would now disregard those important personal tasks in that same way. I now know just how important feeling your best for exams is and that looking good means feeling good.
In addition to keeping up your appearance during exam time, remember to also get lots of sleep and drink lots of water!
