Over the holiday weekend I took a quick trip down to the Big Apple to see some of my best friends in the world. Not only was it probably one of the most fun filled weekends of my life, I came back with New York fever and a deep desire to move to the city that never sleeps.
I arrived on Friday night after work and had one of those long and hilarious cab rides into the city from LaGuardia Airport. Of the many funny things that came out of my cab driver’s mouth, the best was that he knew I was Canadian because apparently “only Canadians buy new suitcases” (FYI, my suitcase is years and years old). When I reached my friend’s apartment in Chelsea, we quickly got to catching up and enjoying some mac n’ cheese spring rolls from Cafeteria for the first of two times that night. We then hit some local dive bars before enjoying a table in the Red Room at the Gansevoort Park Hotel. From there our night took us to the Meatpacking District to the Brass Monkey, one of my favourite spots in the city. That night I wore a BCBG beige power skirt with a black twenties-inspired sheer and beaded cropped tank from the Juniors department at Winners.
The next morning we enjoyed breakfast together before me and one of my girlfriends took off to New Jersey for Electric Daisy Carnival, headlined by Calvin Harris and Avicii. This day will go down as one of the most fun in all my life. The atmosphere was incredible, the weather was beautiful, and the music was awesome. We enjoyed great food, big margaritas, fun rides, and three stages of sound. For the festival, I wore a TopShop black bandage skirt with sandals and a crochet cropped top (also from Winners).
After the evening ended, we headed back to the city and again found ourselves in the Meatpacking district, this time at the Standard Hotel. The next day I hung out with friends and enjoyed the sunny weather. I ended my time in NYC with a sushi party on my friend’s rooftop, watching the sun go down and the city lights take over the sky. Before I knew it, I was on a 6am flight back to Toronto. That’s the way life goes in NYC, the city moves at such a rapid pace you do so much in such a short time and before you know it the fun is over and its back to reality!
Enjoy these pictures of my trip to one of my favourite places on earth, and see you next time New York!
