Ombre
n. A French term meaning “shaded.” Usually a multicolored stripe, with colors graduating from light to dark. The color effect is woven into the fabric. Generally produced by arranging different tones in the warp.
Working in fashion merchandising for one of Canada’s premiere retailers, I get a glimpse of what’s hot and what’s not. In fashion and in beauty right now, we’ve
been seeing stars and civilians alike going ga-ga for a little ombre. Everything from hair to outerwear has been seeing the shaded style slip in. If you’re going to go with this trend, try a daring dress or add a little spice with a stylish sweater. Whether you opt for a small and exciting accent or something big and bold — ombre will keep you on trend and looking fabulously fashionable this season.
